Online Quilting Bee Block 1

We are back and ready to jump right back in!

This year, we are starting off with a fun project intended to help each other become more confident quilters. We are hosting a Free Online Quilting Bee Skill Builder Quilt Along. Say that 10 times fast. For more information, you can head to the main Quilt Along webpage and it will outline all the details. Scroll down below the video for fabric requirements.

Let’s get started with block 1! This month we are creating a fun and easy star quilt block using quarter square triangles. We share tips on how to get them to line up and trim them accurately so you have perfect points. Since it’s an easy block, really take the time to focus on accurate seams. Learning how to accomplish this now will help with more complicated blocks in the future. Each block will finish at 18″. The final quilt will be about 64×84″.

Fabric Requirements:

There are 2 different options for this quilt, make the sampler, consisting of 12 different blocks, or make a quilt of just this block, repeating it 12 times.

Sampler Quilt Fabric Requirements (assuming 40″ wide fabric):

Finished quilt : 64×84″

White – 4 yard
Dark Green (including border) – 2 yards
Light Green – 1 1/4 yards
Gray – 1 yard
Yellow – 1 yard
