Calm Lagoon Blog Tour by Sherry Shish

Kimberlee Tanner

When Sherry shared her latest fabric collection we jumped on the opportunity to sew with it. Our absolute favorite place in the world is the beach and these batiks capture everything good about it!

Of course, we wanted to make a full quilt and also showcase as many of the prints as we could. My favorite thing about this collection is that not only are they are wide range of blue and green shades, but she has the perfect balance of tones. You get darks, mediums, and lights, making the final project just come to life!

We paired the prints with a few solids, but really just let the fabrics speak for themselves.

When trying to decide how to quilt our quilt, I wanted to pick a design that would compliment the prints. Since they were all seaside themed and our quilt was all straight lines, I knew I wanted something that flowed like the waves.

We opted to mix up the fabric placement and not just use white between prints. Throwing in some of the prints here and there adds a little unexpected twist.

This quilt definitely has me dreaming of warm sand and the salty sea!
