I Spy Quilt Along - 2024

Kimberlee Tanner

Hello and welcome to our first I Spy Quilt Along! We are so glad you are hear.

We will be spending the next few months, sewing up 1 block a day until we have made all 100 blocks and can put our I Spy quilt together. Since we're all hanging and sewing together, we'll also be giving away free patterns and everyone that finishes all 100 blocks will receive a commemorative sticker of our Butterfly Block!

So, all the details:

The quilt along started on July 15 and goes through the end of Oct. If you are just seeing this, don't worry, you can catch up. Some of these beginner blocks only take a few minutes to sew up.

Every 10 days, we'll be drawing a winner from everyone that posted at least 1 photo on either facebook or instagram of the blocks they made during those days. It can be a photo of one block, or all the blocks. You can post multiple photos or just 1, whatever you prefer, just something to share your progress as we all sew this quilt up together. Don't forget to tag us #ispyqal and @onwilliamsstreet so we don't miss any posts! If you have a private account, simply snap a screen shot of your post and DM us so we can see it.

Along the way, we will also be sharing alternate projects. These blocks are so fun and can be used in so many different ways. We've put some together as bags, table runners, door hangers, and more, and we'll be showing you all the fun things we are making as we go.

In case you are wondering if we are actually sewing along with you, yes! I'm making all the blocks right along with you. I've chosen to use prints for this version and am going for as bright and happy as I can. I'll be sharing our schedule as well and updating what blocks we are making for each of the 10 days. You can find the first 10 below.

If you don't have the book yet, you can get it for 20% off through July 31. Simply use the code ispyqal when checking out.

We are starting with some of the easier blocks and working our way through the book till we finish with the level 3 blocks. If you are new to foundation paper piecing, this is a great project to get lots of practice and gain lots of confidence. It's also a fantastic scrap buster, aside from the white, we've pulled all the fabric to make our quilts from our scrap bins.

Really that's about it! It's a fairly casual quilt along with just enough motivation to finally pull out the book and get all of the blocks sewn up, whether you are making the quilt for yourself or for someone else. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out and as always,

    Happy Quilting!
